  • Service and Action (SA) is a compulsory component in MYP.
  • Emirates International School Service and Action requirements are designed to meet the standards of IB/MYP year 7-11 in an engaging way.
  •  Outcome orientated projects
  • Reflective and self-evaluative
  • Holistic learning+ independently motivating
  • Individual journey
For student development to occur, SA should involve:

• Real, purposeful activities, with significant outcomes
• Personal challenge—tasks must extend the student and be achievable in scope
• Thoughtful consideration, such as planning, reviewing progress, reporting
• Reflection on outcomes and personal learning

• Provide a major opportunity for real life ethical education for students

• Provides a direct route for students to monitor and reflect on their personal growth

• Provides a concrete way for students to reflect on their learning and their experiences

• Provides a concrete way for students to develop better self-awareness

• Provides a direct link to experiential education

• Provide opportunities for students to seek and experience leadership opportunities 

• Provide concrete pathways for students to experience Service Learning

• Provide avenues for students to experience new challenges outside their “comfort zone”
